For many years, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors have been a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility and a source of strong leadership. They righted the County’s fiscal ship, cutting the budget, maintaining low taxes, eliminating debt, and finding ways to do more with less.
Supervisors Max Wilson and Andy Kunasek have been at the forefront of making it happen. We believe that Steve Chucri would be an excellent addition to the board and will bring practical, conservative ideas to the table. The Arizona Republic shares this sentiment and announced their endorsements of both Kunasek and Chucri today.
In their endorsement of Kunasek, the Republic opined, “Kunasek has been a consistent defender of the taxpayer’s interest, advocating for solid services at a fair price. His leadership is a major reason Maricopa County now boasts a $400 million surplus just a few years after the county endured a perfect storm of financial near-collapse and political turmoil of operatic proportions.” Read the entire endorsement.
In their endorsement of Chucri, the Republic said, “If any candidate in this year’s local elections seems to deliver an aura of, change,’ it would be Chucri. It is change for the good… Competent and professional-minded, Steve Chucri is well suited for this board.” Read the entire endorsement.
The Arizona Republic got it right. Andy Kunasek and Steve Chucri are the right men for the job. We wish both candidates the best of luck in the General Election.
