Much of HighGround’s success has been because of outstanding relationships with Maricopa and Pima Counties, rural Arizona, nearly every city in Maricopa County, and Arizona state government.  With over 250 years of combined government experience, HighGround and its principals have established relationships with nearly every agency in state government.

The principals of the firm have been representing clients at the Legislature since the firm was founded in January 1996.  Previously, the firm’s principals were lobbyists for the Governor of Arizona and the Attorney General at the Legislature.  Most members of the firm have held numerous positions throughout federal, state, and county government that involved regular interaction with the Legislature and other government agencies going back to 1985.

Arizona State Legislature and State Government Relations

HighGround’s successful approach to representing a client at the legislature and to state government is through hard work, knowledge of the legislative process and trusted, long-established relationships with legislators, legislative staff, and state government officials.  This approach has benefited the firm’s clients time and again.

Members of the firm are at the Capitol every day the legislature is in session. Additionally, throughout the year, the firm is actively involved with legislative study committees and other legislative activities. Besides monitoring and interfacing with the legislature, the firm also actively monitors and interfaces with executive, judicial and regulatory branches and agencies of state government.

Regional and Local Government Relations

In addition to strong relations with legislative and state officials, HighGround maintains excellent working relationships with countywide, regional, and local elected officials and staff.  Our team has developed these connections through our legislative efforts as well as through our work on major policy issues including transportation, water, education funding and public safety; our local work on municipal funding and bond efforts; and developing personal relationships through candidate campaigns.
